Festschrift in honour of Wim van Binsbergen on the occasion of his 70th birthday. These essays are devoted to the significance of his works in the vast domain of intercultural knowledge production. Its contributors range from his former students around the chair of the Foundations of Intercultural Philosophy Erasmus University Rotterdam; the African Studies Centre Leiden (ASCL); Quest: An African Journal of Philosophy / Revue Africaine de Philosophie (whose Editor he has been since 2002); and others with whom he has been in close collaboration over the past two decades. This collection of essays reflects upon his significant contributions in the fields of scholarship in which he has been active in the course of his rich, inspiring, complex and innovative career. For close to half a century, van Binsbergen has published a great deal on Africa, helping to answer the emotional and political questions as to the validity, global relevance and global applicability of African knowledge systems.
