Islamic Maritime Law: An Introduction

This study examines Islamic maritime law, with an emphasis on commercial maritime law, and the actual practice of Muslim sailors during the classical period. It covers a range of subjects, including relationships of shipowners, crew and passengers, contracts for the leasing of ships, freight charges, transportation of goods, losses at sea, the laws concerning jettison and collision, military maritime law, and the legal significance of territorial waters.
