The Encyclopaedia of Islam - New Edition presents the current state of our knowledge of the Islamic world, covering not only the religion, but also the believers and the countries they live in. It features articles on distinguished Muslims of every age and land, on tribes and dynasties, on the crafts and sciences, on political and religious institutions, on the geography, ethnography, flora and fauna of the various countries and on the history, topography and monuments of the major towns and cities. Its geographical and historical scope encompasses the old Arabo-Islamic empire, the Islamic states of Iran, Central Asia, the Indian sub-continent and Indonesia, Central Asia, the Ottoman empire and numerous other Islamic states. The new edition is published in double fascicules of 128 pages, with between eight and ten issues making up a bound volume. Upon completion of a volume, binding material and prelims are supplied.
