Nausikaa’s Isle. A Tribute to Paul Vangelisti

Robert L Crosson,William Mohr

This is a A Tribute to american poet Paul Vangelisti edited by Dennis Phillips with the contributions of many friends such as Robert Crosson, George Albon, Gianluca Muratori, Giuliano Della Casa, Adriano Spatola, Amiri Baraka, Norma Cole, Pete Gadol, Polly Geller, Giulia Niccolai, William Mohr, Gilad Elbom, Milli Graffi, Marsha Hopkins, Michele Lombardelli, Douglas Messerli, Sarah Shun-lien Bynum, Ersi Sotiropoulos, Guy Bennett, Diane Ward and others… As Dennis Phillips writes in the introduction As a poet, a translator, an editor, a publisher, an educator, and, for all the right reasons, an administrator, Paul Vangelisti has created a force of gravity felt by his readers, several international generations of poets, and his students, that brings to mind the similar influence of Pound. One way Vangelisti’s energy manifests itself in his gift for elevating the ordinary. He somehow creates an aura of importance around even the simplest of daily interactions, whether its meeting for a quick coffee or spending the evening plotting a collaboration .__ Poet, publisher, translator and radio producer Paul Vangelisti was born in San Francisco in 1945. Vangelisti has edited several anthologies mapping out the development of postwar poetry in Southern California. His first volume of this kind, Anthology of L.A. Poets , was edited in collaboration with Charles Bukowski and Neeli Cherkovski. Vangelisti is the author of nearly twenty collections of poems, including Air (1973), Portfolio (1978), Another You (1980), Rime (1983) and Nemo (1995) ). He received a creative writing scholarship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1988.
