The scagliola technique was born in the XVI century and can be described as different operations of manufactory and inlay of a gypsum mixture to create floral decorations, arabesques, amazingly beautiful religious and abstract paintings. Catalogue of the exhibition set up in Florence from October 2012 to January 2013, the publication is dedicated to a precious collection of ancient scagliole . The thirty pieces, mostly tables, altar frontals and paintings made between the XVII and XIX century, have been collected by Bianco Bianchi, the Florentine artisan who has been one of the first to revaluate and bring back to life this characteristic hand-crafted technique become obsolete after the Nineteenth century.
