Emotions, for children, are a very important and essential way of communication - from day one, years before they can even speak: for the parents, it is crucial to understand the deeper meaning beyond a cry or laughter. Cope with those emotions is a task that can be accomplished together. Understand the children’s emotions will lead to a more satisfying relationship for both the parent and the little one.
The book starts from the adults giving some useful indications for recognising the parent’s own emotional states in interactions with the child, and also a series of exercises to test the parent’s development of self-awareness.
In the second part, the focus shifts towards the child, suggesting a series of practical activities, in order to make sense of their experience, to identify their own and others’ emotions, to contain the most powerful emotions, and to overcome minor crises. AUTHOR: Chiara Piroddi is a psychologist and expert in Neuropsychology, specialising in Co- gnitive-Evolutionary Psychotherapy. She graduated in Psychology at the University of Pavia in 2007. She completed her practical training at the Niguarda Hospital and she has written several books for White Star Kids.
