El popol vuh offers an undeniable literary interest, as much for its rich legendary imagery as for being a work of creation that contemplates the preexisting Mayan culture and its colonization. The Popol vuh that we now know was written during the conquest in the Quiche language with Castilian symbols for Christianized indigenous peoples. Some studies indicate that one of the possible authors of Popol Vuh is Diego Reinoso. And it is believed that it was written between 1554 and 1558 in the ancient capital of the Quiche people, Gumarkaaj.
