Solis fue secretario del conde de Oropesa, virrey de Navarra y de Portugal; oficial de la Secretaria de Estado y cronista mayor de Indias. Escribio por encargo real la Historia de la conquista de Mexico en 1684, inspirado en los relatos de Cortes, Lopez de Gomara y Bernal Diaz.

Antonio de Solis and Rivadeneyra (Alcala de Henares, 1610- Madrid, April 19. 1686). Spain. He studied in Alcala and Salamanca Rhetoric, Philosophy, canons, moral and political science. He wrote his first comedy at the age of seventeen influenced by Calderon de la Barca. Solis was secretary of count de Oropesa, Viceroy of Navarre and Portugal; officer of the Secretary of state and greater chronicler of Indian. By royal commission wrote the story of the conquest of Mexico in 1684, Inspired by the stories of Cortes, Lopez de Gomara and Bernal Diaz.
