Esta obra es la mas conocida de Calderon de la Barca. Calderon de la Barca fue nombrado caballero de la Orden de Santiago, entre 1635 y 1637. Por entonces publico veinticuatro comedias en dos volumenes y La vida es sueno (1636), su obra mas celebre. Especie de juego fantasmal sobre la realidad, lo imaginario y sus limites.
