Un voluntario realista is the eigth novel in the second series of Episodios Nacionales by Benito Perez Galdos. After leaving Madrid, the narrator ends up at the convent of Saint Solomon, whom of a young man raised by nuns in a house of faith. His adventures hold in store a great deal of tragedy, ending with death at the hands of royal troops. This novel introduces the origins of Carlism.
