After years of emotional instability, Frank Bascombe finds himself growing older relatively happily. He continues to work as an estate agent in Sea-Clift, where he had gone to live with his second wife who unexpectedly left him. Soon after he discovers that he has prostate cancer. Once again we accompany Bascombe on his travels along the roads of New Jersey, while he takes stock of his life. This is an extraordinary close of a great trilogy.
