Manual of Freemasonry
Richard Carlile
"Carlile's Manual of Freemasonry certainly represented a unique view of English Masonic practice during the early nineteenth century. However, the popularity of his rituals kept them in print continuously for decades, helping English Freemasons with their ritual work well into the twentieth century. Some editions were even published having the pages sealed together so the rituals could not be read by the casual browser, keeping the higher degrees secret until the time was right. So, it could be said that Carlile's wish to educate Freemasons came true."
