In the beech tree wood, where the bluebells stood… play three joyful rabbits, out of their burrow below the forest floor, looking for fun and adventure in the forest. But unbeknown to the rabbits, a fox lies in wait, just awaiting the moment to pounce!
Follow the tale of the three little rabbits, as they try to outwit the hungry fox, in the early morning light of a late Spring morning. The story deliberately tries to capture the five senses which connect ourselves to the animal world and enables the reader to visualise and to feel the emotions and the smells, as well as the taste and sounds of the forest, as experienced by the main characters in the book.
The story is written in the form of a poem and designed to be easily remembered, which should appeal to younger and older readers alike. Children may wish to act out the story themselves, perhaps with the addition of drumming and other sounds, to add to the tension of the performance.
The stunning pictures in the book, produced by the outstanding illustrator Vasylyna Tumanova, will inevitably draw the reader into the story and capture their interest, as it reaches its climax. The drawings truly encapsulate the feel of the poem, as well as the tension and the emotions experienced by the principal animal characters.
