Angry River 13th Edition by Ruskin Bond is about a young girl called Sita. The novel starts with the description of a modest setting wherein Sita’s grandfather is introduced as a fisherman. She lives with her grandparents on an island, in a hut made of mud and rocks. Sita’s grandmother goes through a terrible illness which compels her grandfather to take her to the town hospital. When they leave, Sita is left to not only take care of the household but also ensure that the rain does not destroy their hut. The only way Sita can protect herself from the terrifying rain is by climbing up the peepal tree. The question that remains is whether she will be able to protect her home, her belongings, and her life before it’s all washed away in the flood. The author introduces Krishan at this point of crisis, Sita’s friend, who helps her through the flood. But, life for Sita may have changed forever despite the glimmer of hope. Angry River 13th Edition has been widely published and read in countries like Italy, France, Germany, and Denmark.
