This book presents a cross-cultural study between Brazil and Portugal that used data collected in Brazil. It is also an innovative study, as it used systematized data in an empirical approach that sought to identify the social images of children of medium and low socioeconomic status and children in institutional care, using a quantitative and qualitative methodology. The results showed that there are negative beliefs about poor and institutionalized children that interfere with their social integration, given the discrimination, exclusion and stereotyping they suffer. Thus, this book aims to contribute to reflections on the discrimination of poverty and institutional care, and to improve the quality of interventions, given that it is time to guarantee rights to all children in an equal and fair way. This is a work, therefore, that can help scholars, researchers, as well as people interested in this subject. Happy reading!
