The present research describes a forgotten genre of the musical heritage of Margarita Island, Nueva Esparta State, Venezuela known as the "lololo song", born from indigenous roots and linked to Spanish and African traditions; a traditional peasant song that used to be sung during the transfer of the corn harvest from the hills to the home of the happy Margarita farmer, particularly in the towns of El Valle del Espiritu Santo, San Juan Bautista, Tacarigua, San Antonio and El Maco. The study is qualitative and ethnographic in approach, conducted through unstructured interviews with living cultural heritages -regional and municipal-, managers and popular culturists. Margarita Island is the region of Venezuela with 18 identified and disseminated musical genres, making it the most prolific region with an enormous cultural richness.
