The aim of this book is to understand the real working environment of forestry vehicle drivers, covering topics such as the use of safety equipment, ergonomics, hours worked and the state of repair of the vehicle fleet. It provides relevant data for professionals in the forestry, health and occupational safety sectors, as well as looking at job satisfaction, driver productivity and vehicle conditions. The research was carried out in the municipality of Sinop in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, but covered the whole of the north of the state due to the fact that the municipality is a centre for receiving raw materials, as the interviewees were from surrounding municipalities. The work includes a photographic collection of the vehicle fleet to help classify the vehicles. As part of the results obtained, there was a low level of education among the drivers interviewed. Most of them said they only wore their seatbelts near motorway checkpoints. The average body mass index showed excess weight. The average number of hours worked per day was high and the average age of the fleet was older.
