One of the great challenges in contemporary times is undoubtedly to make school learning meaningful and attractive in the midst of the possibilities of access to knowledge to which students are exposed. In this context, we analyse and discuss the use of new educational technologies in History teaching, based on the conceptions of high school teachers from the Sao Luis, Maranhao state public school system. The practices carried out by these teachers and their representations of the different technological tools and their potential for use in this subject of the school curriculum are analysed. Finally, the teachers' conceptions demonstrate the need to review concepts and methodologies in the use of educational technologies and, to this end, a pedagogical proposal is outlined with subsidies for rethinking the importance of these technologies in the teaching of History.
