Agriculture is the largest employer in the world because almost all industries depend on agricultural raw products. Agriculture plays a vital role in India's economy. In India 54.6% of the population engaged in agriculture and allied sector activities. India is the world's largest producer of milk, pulses and jute, and ranks as the second largest producer of rice, wheat, sugarcane, groundnut, vegetables, fruit and cotton.
