The aim of this research is to address the issue of representations and, to this end, to discuss the media as a cultural artifact in the field of education, more specifically in schools. Thus, the object of this study is to investigate how teachers represent and produce meanings about the insertion of the media in their educational action and, with this, to problematize the media, its representation in education and in the pedagogical practice of teachers at a public basic education school. It also investigates how the school, in the face of contemporary society, which influences cultural identity, offers different means of socialization while at the same time promoting the decentring of culture. The research is qualitative in nature and is based on theoretical references, the conception of which includes Cultural Studies. This theoretical field is rooted in cultural materialism, as it encompasses the media, as well as analyzing the media and has a large contribution from researchers who investigate these relationships, making it an eminently interdisciplinary field.
