The aim of this short essay is to debate the policies for valuing teachers' careers from the 1990s onwards in the educational context of the state of Goias, especially with regard to the Pact for Education, a program created to establish guidelines for teachers' work in the state. In this sense, we seek to understand how the general framework of economic conditions imposed by the capital system has influenced public policies for education.
