For many years, Algerian women have held a variety of jobs, especially those that were intended for men only. This has contributed to the feminization of many fields, including the maritime field, in particular shipboard work, which has been for men only for centuries and is known for its extreme difficulty, but this has not prevented women from joining in, in defiance of the difficulties and opinions of conservative society, while the number of Algerian women seafarers has increased in recent years. The questionnaire method enables us to show the reasons that prompted women to work on board, their acceptability within the team and the various challenges and difficulties they face on board ship, by processing the results obtained from 73 seafarers employed by Algerian national shipping companies.
