It is a question of observing the diversity of content on taxonomy and its existing construction methods, according to the various sources. It is well known that this concept is widely used in various scientific and technological fields, including Information Science. Therefore, this research aims to present an analytical study on definitions and methods for constructing corporate taxonomies, by analyzing the literature in the area and the international standard ANSI/NISO Z39. 19, for defining and constructing them. The general objectives of this study were to analyze the published literature on taxonomies in order to define this construct and learn about the methods used to build them. The specific objectives are: To identify, in the selected literature, the characteristics present in the different definitions, with a view to proposing a comprehensive definition; To identify, in the selected literature, as well as the methods for constructing corporate taxonomies, in order to consolidate the dispersed knowledge on the subject and contribute to the sedimentation of the concept in Information Science.
