Legal protection of the software by means of Intellectual Property

This document contains an investigative reflection on software and explains through an explanation of concepts (intellectual property, industrial property, copyright, new creations, etc.), how software, through its protection, is a fundamental pillar of the development of information technologies in history. It should be clarified that this document only intends to study the scope of protection related to intellectual property and, specifically, to copyrights and new creations. It should be noted that this text provides highly relevant concepts regarding software protection, since it not only exposes the law as the main source of formal protection, but also explains how, in practice, different tools contribute to its material protection.
