This case study took attention on how was directed the Phonetics and Phonology course in the Bachelor in Basic Education with Emphasis in English- Bachelor in Foreign Languages with Emphasis in English at the Univerisdad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas, and whether the teaching and training of segmental and supra segmental aspects in English pronunciation converged in the education of future English teachers. The findings in the questionnaire applied to 49 second semester students, the class observations and the field notes revealed that the teacher’s methodology, participants’ background and previous knowledge, communicative and linguistic approach in pronunciation are basic in the development of English skills in listening, oral production and writing.
