ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

In When One Hurts, We All Hurt, Arnoldo Kraus speaks constantly about the need that pain sufferers have for that ray of hope on the horizon, that comforting feeling: to feel heard, even touched. With a prologue by Francisco Gonzalez Crussi
In the clinic, the most frequently used word is ‘pain;’ transferring that load to someone else and accepting that it has found a safe harbor allows afflicted people to rest, to know that their pains and fears were understood, and they often start feeling better without medication and without the need for exams and X-rays…

As if giving a reminder to those who seem to have forgotten it, Dr. Arnoldo Kraus mentions in this book that a physician’s first duty is to alleviate suffering; that pain is not a benefit but a burden that weighs on the patient, making him sicker than he would be without it.

The fact that pain might be, from a philosophical point of view, inexpressible or beyond words, says the author, doesn’t mean that words don’t play a decisive part in alleviating it. The deep truth of the pain might be indescribable, but the insightful Dr. Arnoldo Kraus has on his side the experience that leads him to write conscientiously on this topic.
