The book explores the problems of ancient geography of the Northern Black Sea. The author draws attention to the ancient literary tradition, beginning and ending with logograph geographers of the Roman period. Using an original technique of interpreting classical geographic representations, comparing them with a wide archaeological material, the author offers not only the localization of certain place names on a modern map, but in some cases revolutionizing the defensive system of roads and lines of administrative and territorial division of the antique states of the Northern Black Sea.
