Three Countries

Germany, France and Switzerland a historical comparison France, Germany and Switzerland meet on the Upper Rhine. The borders between the three countries are now hardly an obstacle to trips to the neighboring country. That's why many people are hardly aware of how much the culture of remembrance differs in the three countries. The population's view of history is predominantly shaped by their own national history, while the history of the neighboring country is largely unknown to most people. Understanding these better is one of the goals of this book and a prerequisite for successful cross-border cooperation. The publication provides a quick overview of important differences and similarities in German, French and Swiss history on the Upper Rhine in concise texts. Texts and illustrations come from the Three Countries Exhibition, the permanent exhibition of the Three Countries Museum in Lorrach, which is the only museum in Europe to systematically take a transnational look at the history of three countries and, at the same time, a region with its collection, exhibitions and many other offerings.
