Swedish artist OEyvind Fahlstroem (1928-76) was one of the 20th century’s most innovative, versatile and multidimensional artists. Rather than developing a single characteristic style, he worked with a variety of mediums and techniques, such as poetry, theater, journalism, criticism, drawing, painting, film, television, happenings, radio, graphic design and installation. All these forms were mobilized by the artist to investigate economic, political and social issues. Fahlstroem manipulated the world in order to challenge the viewer to think critically.
OEyvind Fahlstroem: Manipulate the World is the culmination of three years of research into the artist’s work undertaken by the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, producing a fuller understanding of Fahlstroem’s oeuvre and the contemporary resonance of his ideas.
