Als Grundlage fur das vorliegende Werk dient die Koenigliche Munzsammlung zu Berlin, fur die der Numismatiker Julius Friedlaender seinerzeit tatig war. Oskische Munzen wurden von ihm kritisch gesichtet, sorgfaltig katalogisiert, und mit Hilfe des zeitgenoessischen Forschungsstandes neu eingeordnet. Auf diese Weise ist ihm ein wichtiger Beitrag zur italienischen Numismatik gelungen. Nachdruck der Originalausgabe von 1850.
