It always begins with a feeling, a landscape or piece of music. The sculptures of Axel Anklam (b. 1971 in Wriezen; lives and works in Berlin) captivate the beholder with their clarity and power. Dynamic and calmly flowing sections alternate, giving rise to forms filled with restrained energy. Although Anklam often works with translucent or opaque materials–stainless steel netting, epoxy resin, latex–he is at heart a sculptor of light. The monograph presents Axel Anklam’s sculptural work between 2008 and 2018.
