Christian Gottlob August Bergt (1771-1837) wirkte uber Jahrzehnte als Organist an einer der groessten Simultankirchen Deutschlands: dem Dom St. Petri in Bautzen. Nahezu jede musikalische Gattung wurde von ihm mit Kompositionen bedacht. Die 1834 entstandene fruhromantische Messe in Es-Dur ist eine der wenigen Messen Bergts mit sehr ungewoehnlichen Formmodellen, wobei der langsame Kyrie-Teil besonders markant heraussticht. Bemerkenswert ist auch das langere Orgelsolo nach dem Pleni sunt coeli sowie die opernhafte Sopran-Arie Lux orta est iusto im Offertorium.
