Martin Kunz ist seit uber 45 Jahren im Fairen Handel aktiv. Am Beginn stand sein ziviler Ersatzdienst mit indischen Nichtregierungsorganisationen in Kalkutta und (nach Ruckkehr in der Mitte der 70er Jahre) der Aufbau eines der altesten Weltladen. Es folgten seine Tatigkeit als erster Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender der gepa (der groessten alternativen Handelsorganisation der Welt), und als Grundungsgeschaftsfuhrer des weltweiten Dachverbands fur Fairtrade Siegelinitiativen TransFair International (TFI), sowie dessen Folgeorganisation FairTrade Labelling Organization (FLO, heutzutage Fairtrade International). 1994 schrieb er die ersten Kriterien fur Fairtrade besiegelten Tee (die Einfuhrung des ‘Joint Body’ Konzepts war spater Basis fur weitere Fair Trade Standards fur abhangig Beschaftigte), und fur Fair gehandelte Fussballe (1998).Die letzten 15 Jahre widmete er v.a. der Ausweitung des Fair Trade Konzepts auf Naturkautschuk und die Grundung des Fair Rubber e.V.. Heute steht fur ihn seine Firma Diversity Honeys GmbH im Mittelpunkt, die uber den Verkauf von Honig von asiatischen Honigbienen die Aufmerksamkeit auf deren Bedeutung fur Biodiversitat lenken moechte. Die Firma verkauf auch Plastik-freie Gartenartikel.In diesem Buch sind einige seiner schriftlichen Beitrage vereint, insbesondere seine Doktorarbeit uber ‘Dritte Welt Laden’, die hier erstmals in elektronischer Form zuganglich ist. Martin Kunz has been active in Fair Trade for more than 45 years. From the time when he served with local Non Governmental Organizations in Kolkata in the mid 1970 until today, he was part of a group that founded one of the first World Shops in Germany, he was the first chairman of the board of directors of gepa, the world’s largest Alternative Trade Organization, he was founding executive secretary of the global Fairtrade label association TransFair International (TFI) and also of its successor FairTrade Labelling Organization (FLO - nowadays Fairtrade international). In 1994 he wrote the first criteria for Fairtrade labelled tea (which included the introduction of the ‘Joint Body’ concept, which became blueprint for criteria involving hired labour) and for Fairly Traded soccer balls (1998).Most recently he expanded Fair Trade to cover natural rubber, and for nine years he was the director of the Fair Rubber Association. He is still active with his company Diversity Honeys Ltd., raising awareness for issues such as biodiversity (particularly pollinator diversity) by selling honey from Asian honey bees and plastic free gardening products. This book brings together some of his writing, including his PhD thesis on ‘Third World Shops’, which becomes electronically available for the first time.
