Leftover/removals

In Leftover photographs of used radiotherapy masks, collected from hospitals, deal with the fear of sickness; both defined and undefined. The series begins with realism and ends in fantasy. Awarded series Removals shows manifestations of the most common diseases a few minutes after the operations, in a corner of an operating room, at two hospitals in Finland. The photos’ beauty and disgust exposed to our gaze test the borders of our own being. Leftover / Removals is a double book that combines both series into a parallel story.
