The present volume includes 19 studies on topics related to the tradition and transmission of the biblical text in various periods and geographical areas. The volume is dedicated to Professor Eugen Munteanu, corresponding member of the Romanian Academy, Professor Emeritus of "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iasi, by colleagues, friends and disciples, on the occasion of his 70th anniversary (2023). Ten of these studies focus on the crystallisation of various traditions of the biblical text and its transmission through translation: the reception of the reviewed biblical text by the Church Fathers; classical language versions and the emergence of the vernacular; the consolidation of national traditions of the biblical text and its various subtypes - Prophetologion, Psalters, Gospel; pre-modern and contemporary translations of the biblical text based on case studies; interferences and parallelisms between national traditions. Three studies focus on the linguistic perspective, analysing various translations of the biblical text and the formation of related terminology. Two studies are dedicated to images accompanying the biblical text (maps and engravings), whereas three other studies point to the advantages and disadvantages of the use of computers in biblical studies and present two examples of electronic resources built for the study of the biblical text and its modes of transmission. All these topics are closely related to Professor Eugen Munteanu?s favourite research areas.
