The aim of this book is to analyse the legal aspects of the organisation of the EU’s relations with the neighbouring countries before and after the Treaty of Lisbon. Due to the external consequences of the last enlargements and the Arab Spring, the security, stability and prosperity of the neighbouring countries has gained an emerging importance for the EU. The central question is, how the neighbourhood policy, which has obtained a legal force in the EU primary legislation (Article 8 TEU), will enhance the Europeanization of the neighbouring countries and shape the Union’s diplomacy and actions in the neighbourhood. The shows that the efficiency of the new ENP to promote a dynamic political cooperation, stability, market access and functional common security policy is possible only through legal regulation, approximation and transplantation.
