Erich Maria Remarque’s anti-war novel All Quiet on the Western Front and the repercussions of its first publication in 1928 are a subject of major interest - especially in the year 2014, the centenary year of the outbreak of World War One. This volume therefore includes contributions on the translations of the text into Russian (whereby the first book edition of All Quiet on the Western Front in 1928 was already a Russian translation), an analysis of the changes that the protagonist, Paul Baumer, undergoes, the influence of the text on other authors such as the Slovenian author PreA3/4ihov Voranc, and artistic interpretations such as a radio play by Jan Decker. In addition, the volume contains the first study of Remarque’s relationship with the psycho-analyst Karen Horney. It is rounded off with a detailed documentation of new Remarque editions.
