Bernard Huber was born in France in 1954 and is today pastor in the Reformed Church of Switzerland. He has been deeply involved in development aid in India and with the Bartimaeus Project for many years. He spends part of his time in India every year. He discovered very soon that people in great material need are also in need of spiritual help. So he introduced the Prayer of Stillness amongst Indian Christians many years ago, and has been able to see incredible changes taking place in the lives of those who faithfully practise this form of prayer. The Prayer of Stillness leads us to a place where we can rediscover our own hearts and learn to use our innate strength and energy in a more healthy way. Many individuals in the vast ocean of mankind have feelings of insecurity, and become aware of the fact that a person needs a retreat they can retire to whenever they feel the need. We need to find our innermost selves and to rediscover God; the Prayer of Stillness will help us along the path to the ultimate goal. The time has come for the Christian world to realise that changing anything of any importance is going to demand a sacrifice, and that we are the ones who will have to make that sacrifice.
