Die Universitatsphilosophie als Produktionsstatte dessen, was wir fur Philosophie halten, ist bislang nicht erforscht worden, wohl aus dem Vorurteil heraus, es gabe keine philosophische Praxis, die nicht in den Idealen der Disziplin selbst vorgezeichnet sei. Die enorme Bedeutung der Universitat fur die Philosophie liegt darin, dass auch noch die Dissidenten der Disziplin Vorlesungen und Seminare besucht haben, dass niemand an dem Begriff von Philosophie vorbeigehen kann, der dort immer wieder neu als lernbares Wissen zugerichtet wird: Seit dem 19. Jahrhundert lasst sich fur Philosophen die Universitat so wenig vermeiden wie fur Musiker das Orchester. Existentiell, aber auch praktisch und disziplinar ist die Arbeit in der Universitat mehr als ein Mittel zum Zweck der Philosophie, sie ist deren Bedingung.
