Sa correspondance avec cinquante-et-un physiciens, quatre chimistes, et cinq ingenieurs commence des 1879, lorsqu'il s'engage activement dans la recherche scientifique. Elle est rythmee par des grandes decouvertes d'ordre experimental, instrumental, et theorique.
