Die Familie der Stiller stammte aus Wessobrunn, liess sich in Ettringen nieder und zahlt zu den bekannten Baumeister- und Stuckatorenfamilien Suddeutschlands im Barock. Vor allem Matthias Stiller stuckierte ahnlich wie der Wessobrunner Johann Schmuzer. Sein Sohn Michael stuckierte noch Gitter-und Bandelwerk. In seinen spaten Jahren war er nur noch Baumeister. Seine Soehne Martin und Joseph bauten nur noch wenige Kirchen.
