Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel gilt als systematischer Vollender der abendlandischen Metaphysik, wo er die antike geistige Substanz durch die freie Subjektivitat der Neuzeit retten wollte. Eine tiefenpsychologische Deutung sucht einige verstecktere Urmotive seines dialektischen Denkens freizulegen, welches den weltgeschichtlichen Weg von europaischer Aufklarung uber die Freiheitsphilosophie der Franzoesischen Revolution zum absoluten ‘objektiven Idealismus’ des aufstrebenden Burgertums begrifflich nachzeichnet, aber damit auch den religionsphilosophischen Weg des Monotheismus vom ‘substanziellen’ Verstand des Alten zum Heiligen Geist des Neuen Testaments und die christliche Entwicklung vom katholischen Papismus zur protestantischen Reformation, welche laut Hegel das 1776 und 1789 geistig vorwegnahm.
