Die Erzahlung von Georg Buchner ‘Lenz’ wurde 1839 posthum veroeffentlicht. Buchner hat sich schon Jahre vorher mit dem Stoff, dem sich kontinuierlich verschlechternden Zustand des Dichterkollegen Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz beschaftigt und die Arbeiten sogar schon beendet. Buchners Arbeit basierte auf Briefen von Lenz und auf Aufzeichnungen des Pfarrers Johann Friedrich Oberlin, der Lenz betreute und pflegte.
