Die Arbeit grundet auf Teilen des Belegbuchs 1833 und dem vollstandigen Belegbuch von 1881 der Gemeinde Neumark bei Weimar, der kleinsten Stadt Thuringens. Die Stadt erhielt 1325 das Stadtrecht. Die in ihrer Mehrheit handschriftlich in Kurrentschrift enthaltenen Belege uber Einnahmen und Ausgaben der Gemeinde ermoeglichen eine Einsicht in das Leben und die Sozialstruktur der Bevoelkerung einer Ackerburgerstadt des Grossherzogtums Sachsen - Weimar - Eisenach im 19. Jahrhundert.
