Aspergillus spp. is ubiquitous fungi, commonly occurring in soil, water and decaying vegetation. The members of the genus Aspergillus form an important group of pathogens of the bronchopulmonary system. The spectrum of diseases caused by them encompasses aspergilloma, chronic necrotizing pulmonary aspergillosis, invasive pulmonary aspergillosis; allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA); bronchial asthma and allergic alveolitis. The present study was carried out to find out the prevalence of aspergilli and antibodies to Aspergillus spp. in bronchial asthmatics using cultural methods and serological techniques like ELISA.
