The book discusses the history of development of textile materials from ancient times and its beautification by coloration. For coloration a number of natural colours extracted from vegetable, animals and minerals were used in earlier days. From the beginning of 20th century those natural colours were gradually substituted by synthetic dyes. The colours are applied by dyeing or printing methods. In dyeing the colours are applied uniformly and in printing those are applied in selected areas.
