Da die Komplexitat gegenwartiger Stadtentwicklungskonflikte in Quartieren wie Hamburg-St. Pauli etablierte diskurstheoretische Zugange mit ihrem Fokus auf sprachliche Diskurse herausfordert, entwirft Katharina Wischmann ein an Michel Foucault anschliessendes Diskurskonzept, das Visualitat und Materialitat als Dimensionen des Diskursiven konzeptualisiert. Die Autorin zeigt, auf welche Weise spezifische Architekturen, Hochhausquartiere und Altbaubestande, Abrisse und Neubauten gesellschaftliche Machtverhaltnisse konstituieren. Mit einem stadtphotographischen Zugang wird die Rolle dieser Visualitaten und Materialitaten erforscht und diese als Kristallisationspunkte stadtteilpolitischen Argumentierens und Positionierens herausgearbeitet.
