Im Zuge der kulturalistischen Wende hat sich der Blick auf politische Kultur grundlegend gewandelt: Anders als im traditionellen Forschungsfeld politische Kulturforschung geht es nun nicht mehr um das was von Kultur (Container-Begriff), sondern vielmehr um die Frage, wie durch eine bestimmte Weise der Beobachtung Kultur erst hervorgebracht wird. Die Beitrage des Bandes thematisieren, warum und wie verschiedene Theorien die Konstruktion von Politik in kulturellen Kontexten vornehmen. Gemeinsamer Ausgangspunkt der Texte ist dabei die Erkenntnis, dass Kultur als zentrales Medium politischer Wirklichkeitserfassung und Wirklichkeitskonstruktion fungiert und politische Handlungsspielraume eroeffnen bzw. verschliessen kann.
