Die Transnationalitatsforschung zeigt, dass grenzuberschreitende Bezuge im Kontext von Migration alltaglich sind. Dies stellt Konzeptionen der sozialen Unterstutzungsforschung von Gemeinschaft als territorial eng umgrenzte Einheiten in Frage. Auf der Basis einer Online-Befragung mit deutschen MigrantInnen in Grossbritannien zeigt die netzwerkanalytische Studie, dass soziale Unterstutzung nicht nur durch das raumlich unmittelbare Umfeld geleistet wird. Persoenliche Beziehungsgeflechte vermitteln transnational Ruckhalt, Beistand und Versorgung, ebenso wie sie auch Konflikte bergen koennen. Andreas Herz differenziert personal communities in ihrer transnationalen Struktur(ierung) und analysiert, wie sie uber relationale und strukturelle Merkmale soziale Unterstutzung herstellen. Entgegen gangiger Konzeptionen sind vielmehr Beziehungsaspekte und weniger strukturelle Aspekte von personal communities als Konstituenten alltaglicher Hilfen im Kontext von Migration zu betrachten.
