Em Portugal, a Azulejaria da segunda metade do Sec. XX, em particular nas decadas de 50 e 60, foi fortemente condicionada pelo regime politico ditatorial. O contexto social, economico e politico portugues da epoca impulsionou um importante renascimento - de uma Arte que fora sempre considerada como menor - do interesse dos artistas eruditos em relacao ao Azulejo. E esse ponto que e estudado nesta monografia. Deve-se, assim, salientar que tambem se encontram publicadas nesta obra duas entrevistas a dois dos maiores artistas que trabalharam (e trabalham)o Azulejo em Portugal: Querubim Lapa e Eduardo Nery.
